Over 60? Live in Northern Ireland? Free Bus Travel with 60+ SmartPass
Since 2007 some 240,000 people 65 and over have been taking advantage of free bus and rail services across Ireland. From 1st October 2008, a further 90,000 individuals aged 60 to 64 years will be entitled to free travel in Northern Ireland.

Who is entitled to 60+ SmartPass?
Anyone between 60 and 64 years who is a resident of Northern Ireland. If you are 65 and older you can apply for the Senior Citizen SmartPass.
When and where can I travel?
You can travel free on nearly all scheduled bus and rail services within Northern Ireland using the 60+ SmartPass. The following operators accept 60+ SmartPass:
- Exclusive Metro
- Ulsterbus
- Northern Ireland Railways
- Airporter
- B&C Coaches
- Cavehill Coaches
- Logan’s Executive Travel
- Londonderry and Lough Swilly Railway Company
- McAnulty’s Coach Hire
How do I apply?
You can apply for your 60+ SmartPass from 30th June 2008.
To request an application form please visit Department for Regional Development
You will receive an application pack by post. Once this has been completed, returned and processed your SmartPass will be posted directly to your home address.
Will I have to pay for the SmartPass?
No, the pass is issued for free.
