Free Wills Fortnight
If you're over 55 and don't have a will make sure you take advantage of the Free Wills Fortnight. The scheme operates for two weeks each year in the month of May.
This year the Free Wills Fortnight campaign will take place in cities and towns across England and Wales between
15th and 30th May 2008.
The scheme is supported by local solicitors and 8 charities including Age Concern (England), Barnardo's, The Blue Cross, Breakthrough Breast Cancer, CAFOD, RNID,
RNLI and The Stroke Association.
How do I get get my free will
Members of the public aged 55 and over can visit the
Free Wills Fortnight website to register your
interest. From Thursday 15th May the website will include details of solicitors taking part in the campaign. If you haven't
registered your interest
contact a participating solicitor to request an appointment.
The solicitor will help to draw up a Will that accurately reflects your wishes. In the case of couples making 'mirror' Wills, it is sufficient that one has
reached the age of 55.
The service is free. However, the charities supporting this scheme "earnestly hope that many will see this as a chance to help their favourite cause" by making a small
donation.
With the average solicitor charging upwards of £60 for writing a will we recommend taking advantage of the Free Wills Fortnight. For more information
