The secret to long life is revealed: one aspirin a day. That’s according to the world's oldest man who celebrated his 113th birthday yesterday. Mr Walter Breuning has made the record books with his

age. Hailing from the Rainbow Retirement Community in Great Falls, Montana, he marked the occasion with a party. Those who attended the event were given some words of wisdom from Mr Breuning, who commented: “Remember that life's length is not measured by its hours and days, but by that which we have done therein. A useless life is short if it lasts a century.

He puts his old age down to eating well and being fit both mentally and physically. He also revealed that he takes one aspirin a day! Born on 21st September 1896 in Minnesota, Mre Breuning has seen remarkable progress during his lifetime. Outliving his entire family, he lost his wife in 1957 after 35 years of marriage and he only retired in 1963 from a lifetime of working on the railroads. He keeps active still, walking through the retirement home and navigating the ramps up to his apartment which is on the second floor.

He continued “There are greater and better things in us all, if we would find them out. There will always be in this world - wrongs. No wrong is really successful.”
