Tracy Paine, the Operations Director at Atherton’s community village for older people, was recently nominated for a national healthcare award. The village, Belong, is one of four that has been completed since 2007.
Ms Paine is one of only three people in the country who has achieved the final stage of the Building Better Healthcare Awards. She was nominated for the Healthcare Design Champion of the Year category.
Tracy Paine is a leading figure in the development of the Belong village. She has taken the lead in the design of the other three villages as well.
The awards have been designed to make the community aware of the need for well-designed therapeutic places, where health and well-being, along with recovery and recuperation, are encouraged.
According to an article in The Bolton News, the judges described the villages as “a new lifestyle concept where older people can feel at home in their own private space while being in close proximity to a range of facilities and activities”.
Tracy Paine is also in the chair position of the Older People and Dementia Committee of the National Care Forum. This puts her in a good position to successfully implement the lessons she has learned about caring for older people.
