Tom Jones, the 71-year-old singer, was admitted to hospital a few days ago, right before the final day of a very successful three-month tour. While initial reports claimed that he had a “heart scare”. A spokesperson later reported that the cause for the cancellation was severe dehydration.

Sir Tom Jones was to perform at the Sporting Club in Monaco. According to the spokesperson, many of the tour destinations were experiencing high summer heat. With the singer’s typically energetic performances, it is not unlikely that dehydration might have been the cause of his hospitalisation.

At 71 years old, Tom Jones is indeed an example of good ageing.

In 2006, however, he did experience some health concerns, including a serious chest infection. In 2009, a throat illness caused a cancellation of a tour in the United States.

In recent years, however, Sir Jones has started to focus on his health by giving up his heavy drinking habits and sticking to a natural diet.

He is reported to be in generally robust health, and even lost two stone since the start of 2011. According to a telegraph report, the singer is currently out of danger and should be back on his dancing feet soon.
