One of the biggest concerns for elderly people is the fear of loneliness and neglect.

That is why Age Concern and Aunt Bessie’s are combining to make Sunday 19 October the biggest EVER Great Sunday

Lunch. The tradition of the Great British Sunday Lunch is one that those over 60 will remember particularly fondly.

The Great Sunday Lunch means to pull people together to enjoy their Sunday meal together, as well as raising money for charity. People are being asked to invite friends, family, neighbours, work colleagues etc, with a particular thought for the elderly and the lonely. The idea is to invite people round, cook them Sunday lunch, and ask for a donation to charity.

Leading manufacturer of food ingredients Aunt Bessie’s is supporting the Great Sunday Lunch – the first one of its kind – in 2008. Famous for its Yorkshire puddings and potato products, Aunt Bessie’s is right behind the Lunch on Sunday 19 October, and hopes to re-kindle the profile of this great British tradition, and raise money for charity at the same time.

Charity Age Concern is delighted to have Aunt Bessie’s on board to support the first Great Sunday Lunch and looks forward to the fundraising initiative helping older people and becoming an annual event.
