Retired sales director Brian Caswell has won £25 million on the
EuroMillions lottery – an amount that is greater than the gross domestic product of some nations in the Pacific islands.
However, he has rejected the possible playboy lifestyle and says he wants to grow carrots on his allotment.
Speaking to reporters in his home town of Bolton, Greater Manchester, Mr Caswell said that he would be spending part of his new wealth on gaining more success in growing root vegetables. He said that he would now bring in a professional.
The £24,951,269.40 winning cheque is clearly not going to change the pensioner’s ways, and neither will it for his wife, Joan, 72. When asked what she’d like to spend the money on, she said: “I thought of things like a chaise longue and a new water feature for the garden.”
The couple even said that they had no intentions of moving from their modest Bolton home, but Mr Caswell did indicate that he would buy a flash car, and take his wife on holiday to Brazil.
When Mr Caswell has found out that his ticket had won, he went home to tell Joan and advised her to sit down. “It’s a lot,” he told her. “I mean mega.”
