Over 50s have more fun

According to a nationwide survey of 4,000 Britons between 18 and 75, 50 could be “the new 25.” The survey found that the average person at 50 years old is likely to have more nights out, meet with more friends, and take more weekends and holidays away than the average 25-year-old.

One of the main reasons for this is the workplace situation the average person might face at 25. While work and ambition can be satisfying in themselves, it is also a tendency among the young to spend so much time working on these ambitions that the other areas of life are left by the wayside.

People in their fifties, on the other hand, spend time on things that boost contentment, such as exploring, socialising, and even exercising more often than they had time for when they were younger. Another factor is the increase in life expectancy – a factor that has received much media attention.

Middle age is no longer a precursor for impending illness and death. Instead, older people are now in a position to maintain their energy and enjoy life as a result.

More than a third of survey respondents in their fifties who still work take fewer sick days, go to bed earlier, and believe that they are healthier than they had ever been.
