UK Older People's Day has been organised by the Stockport All Our Tomorrow's Partnership to take place at Stockport Town Hall.

There will be four workshops throughout the day on the themes of: Knowing your rights and being protected: Wellbeing in body and mind: Having your say and being heard: Independence, responsibility and risk.

This free event will give the older residents in Stockport to have their say as the organisers will be exploring ideas for improvements to services for older people.

It was in 2005 when Stockport Council partnered with Age Concern Stockport which provides older people in Stockport, with advice, support and services.

Executive Member for Adults and Health councillor John Pantall said: "I am pleased we are celebrating International Older People's Day. This event is the perfect forum for local people, who are 50 or over, to get involved with making sure their voices are heard."

Margaret Brade CEO of Age Concern Stockport and Chair of the All Our Tomorrows Board, added: "This event is a repeat of the All Together Now Event in 2008. A commitment was made to come back and talk to people regularly to check we are still getting it right locally. So this is that opportunity and we are excited about genuinely engaging with local people again on local issues of importance as we get older".
