Statistics from a recent poll have revealed that 74 per cent of OAPs who took the poll have learnt computer literacy just to book their own breaks online. This method is being used by 62 per cent of all trips booked by old age pensioners. The main reason given for this is the savings available

through using this method. Additionally, most people who responded to the survey which was carried out by sunshine.co.uk, cited the convenience of making a booking without having to search high street shops.

Thirteen per cent of those polled revealed that a high street travel agent pressures them more than searching on a company's website, and they had the time to browse and make a decision easier.

Chris Brown of sunshine.co.uk, said: "The increase in the amount of OAPs booking their holidays online doesn't surprise me at all – it's cheaper, very straightforward and saves time and effort dragging themselves around various travel agents in town."

A greater number of older people are taking more holidays due to an increase in disposable income when their children leave home, even during the current recession. Another factor is that people are remaining healthier for longer and can travel to more exotic and faraway places.
