Recent news reports on the elderly indicated a vast increase of over-50s on the internet, surfing sites that focus on anything from cooking to travel. In response to this trend, agent Gary Wardrope launched a new travel website especially for the older market.

It’s no ordinary travel site, with the main offerings being adventure holidays to help older people do the things they were always too busy to try, such as camel-riding in Egypt or even climbing Mount Kilimanjaro.

Get-lost.co.uk includes adventure travel specialist operators such as Explore and Exodus. Mr Wardrope’s unique focus is one among many travel agency sites attempting to capture the lucrative older market.

In anticipation of get-lost’s future success, Mr Wardrope said: “Often clients have been through a life-changing experience such as divorce, redundancy, bereavement, or perhaps the kids have left home, and realise that life is too short and they need help to fulfill their ambition.”

He also indicated that many older people are using the opportunity to take adventure trips that they will never forget.

According to a Travel Weekly article, older people have a great variety of diverse interests. It is expected that get-lost.co.uk will cater to a largely ignored sector of this market.
