A new development at St George’s Park in Ditchling, East Sussex could be the ideal solution for people over 60 looking for an apartment after selling their homes. Many older people are selling their homes in favour of smaller living quarters, which would mean lower maintenance and other costs.
Using the term “rightsize” for this endeavour, an article in Easier suggests that the new development is not only an estate of apartments, but also include features especially for those in their 60s.
Residents can, for example, look forward to a wide range of social and leisure facilities, including table tennis, snooker, line dancing, short tennis, croquet and short mat bowls, all arranged by the Residents' Association. The estate also includes a gym, hairdressers, and library in the community centre, Maes Court.
The modern apartments at the estate require much less effort in terms of heating, cleaning and gardening, when compared to larger properties. At the same time, some of the typical afflictions of old age, such as loneliness, will not be a problem for residents.
With safety, security, and community activities close at hand, over 65s can enjoy the rest of their lives and have a lot of fun in the process.
