Age UK is combining with The Choirgirl Isabel to release a charity single for Christmas as part of the charity’s “Spread the Warmth” campaign.

The single will be the appropriately named ‘You Are Not Alone’, a number one for Michael Jackson in 1995. The Choirgirl Isabel is Isabel Suckling, the first choirgirl to get a record deal, from Decca Records. All proceeds from the forthcoming single, to be released on 13 December, will be donated to Age UK.

Isabel is 12 years of age and from York Minster. She feels that older people should not be forgotten, especially at this cold time of year, saying: “Not everyone has grandchildren to visit them, or even a local choir to listen to, so by singing, and giving money from my single to Age UK, I hope this will be some help to those who need it at this time of year.”

Charity Director at Age UK, Michelle Mitchell, said: “We are delighted that Isabel is supporting our new Spread the Warmth campaign. Too many older people are suffering and dying needlessly in winter, and only with the help of generous supporters like Isabel can we continue to make a real difference to them. Age UK provides advice, support and practical services to help people in later life overcome issues with heating, health and human contact in winter.”
