A good way to treat over 50s

Like everyone else and perhaps more so, with increasing redundancies and looming or actual retirement, over 50s are having to make cutbacks in the current period of recession.

However, to ease the hardship students at Halesowen College gave a series of discounted beauty treatments to over 50s members of the 050 club.

The treatments gave the 25 clients the opportunity to try something different with a choice of facials, eye treatments, manicures, pedicures, make up and waxing.

Heather Lovell a lecturer in beauty at the college at Shenstone House in Dudley Road said: "The students thoroughly enjoyed meeting members of the O50 Club and providing them with a range of beauty treatments."

"The beauty industry is growing rapidly and we are encouraging men and women of all ages to come to the beauty academy to experience treatments."

This was certainly a good opportunity for the men in the group to experience something a little different and Phil Jackson a regular attendee at the club really enjoyed his first manicure!

Heather commented that though Phil was understandably nervous to start with he could now see that men, too, benefit from a relaxing pampering session.

Hopefully this will lead the way for other colleges to offer a similar service to older people.
