50+Festival promises useful information and fun

Having released its programme for its sixth 50+Festival, the York Older People’s Assembly is set to begin the event with a bang during September this year. The festival will include a huge range of events, such as laughter workshops, line dancing, and computer skils activities.




After a major information fair at the Guildhall from 10am to 4pm on 14 September, participants at the festival will begin their activities and entertain visitors with information and demonstrations specifically aimed at older people on 25 September.

Interesting participants will include City Screen and Mecca Bingo, as well as Hearing Dogs for Deaf People, York and District MIND. The York Carers Centre, Older Citzens Advocacy York (OCAY), York Osteoporosis Society and The Alzheimers Society will also provide valuable information for older people.

The events will be presented across the cit of York, and will run for seven days, from Saturday, 25 September to Sunday, 3 October. These will include a computer skills for life day at York College, while an Alzheimer’s memory walk will be presented at York Racecourse. The York Model Boat Club will provide a model boat regatta at Rowntree Park.

As always, the event promises to provide a wide range of activities and information that will help people over 50 to live better and have fun while doing so.
