If you're over 60* the first step to take is apply for the Government's Winter Fuel Payment.
Depending on your circumstances this payment can be as much as £300 per year as long as you're over 60 in the qualifying week.

Switch
If you have never switched energy suppliers you could save up to £325 per year. The process is simple when using an energy comparison wesbite. This is how it works:
- Visit a energy comparision website and enter your energy details
- Compare how much you would pay with different energy suppliers
- Switch to the plan you want
- Do nothing - your new supplier will contact you to switch
