Concessions for seniors travelling to the UK

If you're travelling from an overseas country and would like to save some money while visiting the United Kingdom follow the helpful tips below.

Oyster Card (London): Rather than paying cash for single and return fares you can get an Oyster Card for the Underground and buses, which will save you a considerable amount. 

Buses (England): National Express offers Senior Coach Cards for Over 60s, it's just £10.

Rail (England): Find and purchase discounted train tickets through Rail Easy. Also, the Senior Railcard can be purchased by non-residents. The cost is £26, so if you intend to do several trips across England it could be an option.

Accommodation - Cottages4You has over 15,000 properties in the United Kingdom. Book through Seniors Discounts and save 10%.

Restaurants - The Gourmet Society is currently offering half price membership through Seniors Discounts. The membership will give you access to thousands of restaurants offering 2 for 1 meals. If you use the membership by eating out 2-3 times during your stay the membership will have paid for itself.

Attractions - You can find senior discounts to local attractions such as Tower of London by visiting the Discount Directory. Refine your search by location e.g London.

Is the Seniors Discount program in my country recognised?

Senior Concession programs such as Seniors Card Australia, SuperGold (NZ) and programs run in the United States and Canada are not recognised in the United Kingdom.

Can I take advantage of the free over 60s travel on buses in England?

No. Senior travel concession offered by the Government are only available to residents of the UK. Please use the discounts offered by the private companies listed above to save on bus and train fares.

How do I take advantage of discounts in the Discount Directory?

Unlike other senior concession programs Seniors Discounts doesn't issue membership cards. Discounts and promotions offered by businesses can be redeemed using printable coupons, offers codes (for websites) and by requesting the discount on initial contact, if the business has decided not to use a printable coupon or offer code.
