Bag a bargain hotel room

Fancy a cheap night or two away from it the stresses and strains of harsh economic life in 2009? You’ll be please to know that there are hotel deals available from De Vere, Hilton and Travelodge.

Five thousand weekend hotel rooms are available from upmarket hotelier De Vere at 20 of its 30 locations for just £19 a night. You can book rooms until 14 Jan for stays until 28 Feb.

As the De Vere rooms would normally cost between £59 and £130 the saving is immense, and the period includes St Valentine’s Day falling on a Saturday. Why not treat your loved one to a romantic weekend? Only Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays are included in the cut-price deal. Be aware that breakfast is not included.

Hilton hotels are another chain that could be included in the ‘luxury’ bracket, and it is also offering a cut-price deal. Rooms in 220 of its hotels across Europe, Asia, the Middle East and Africa are available at half price for stays between January and August – and on this one, breakfast is included in the price. Examples include Central London for £50 a night, Barcelona at £55 a night, Cairo, Dublin or Valencia at £60 a night. Again, St Valentine’s Day is included.

Travelodge is undeniably at the budget end of the hotel market, and it is offering rooms at £9 a night at many locations. Rooms have to be booked 21 days in advance and cover the period 5 May to 6 September. Locations as diverse and as popular as Blackpool, Edinburgh and London are included. Travelodge hotels tend towards functional rather than luxurious, but if it’s location you want, without the frills, then their rooms should do for you.

Although there are not a huge number of £9 rooms available, there are plenty of £19 deals, so it’s worth a trawl to see what locations are on offer.
