Over 65? Travel insurance can be a time consuming and costly ordeal. For individuals looking for travel insurance you will quickly find your options are limited because only one third of travel insurers will provide cover to people over 65.
Travel insurance company, Karma Insurance, highlighted in a recent survey a couple aged 65 and 66 taking a two week holiday in Spain can pay as much as £209 for travel insurance. People under 60 can pay as little as £20 for similar policies.

According to Age Concern one in five over 65s seeking car insurance is unable to get a quote, with that figure rising to one in four by the time they reach 75 years old.
Equality minister Harriet Harman is hoping to put an end to insurance age discrimination. Insurers will be required to prove they have performed an appropriate risk assessment for each client and charge them accordingly.
But experts warn that legal changes could be a long way off and harmful to the insurance industry. If poorly implemented there may be a reduction in competition with some products being withdrawn. This could have a flow on effect and increase premiums for all age groups.
